Blue Screen : Common Windows Stop Codes
Common Windows Stop Codes
The blue screen error in Windows 10 comes with a string of text called a Windows stop code that catalogs the issue. To fix this problem and prevent it from happening again, you can use a stop code.
Here’s a list of some of the stop codes you’re most likely to find on the blue screen in Windows 10 or 11:
1. Data_Bus_Error
The Data_Bus_Error is usually a hardware issue that can arise due to bad RAM, reconfigured or incompatible hardware, or corrupted hard disk drive.
This means your computer is not receiving a proper connection from the hardware. It could be that the device wasn't installed properly or because components might have been broken or damaged.
2. NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM
NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM error indicates that the hard drive may have some kind of problem. By running a chkdsk scan on your disk, you may be able to fix and prevent this from leading to a BSoD.
CHKDSK (check disk) is the built-in Windows utility that can help you easily find and repair bugs and errors.
3. DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION
A Windows error message indicates that some important files may have been corrupted, either because of your device or the operating system.
This error also can be caused by hardware conflicts. You must remove or disconnect any of these external devices if they are installed on your computer with newly installed External Hard Drives, Internal Solid State drives, Printers and Scanners. After that, restart your computer.
4. SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
The exact file that caused this error will be displayed on this blue screen, but if it is a system file and not a device driver, you may not be able to fix it without reinstalling Windows.
5. PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
Your computer is trying to find a piece of memory that you don't have, either because part of RAM has stopped working or an error occurred with the system process in question.
6. VIDEO_TDR_TIMEOUT_DETECTED
This means that the GPU is at a point where it can no longer handle the amount of data coming in. You have either overloaded it or your graphics drivers are not working properly.
7. CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED
This message indicates that one of the important Windows system files, for example svchost.exe, is not working properly. It could have been done because you've closed this file in the Task Manager. Make sure to search for the name of the process prior to completing an assignment that is not known.
