Types of Computer Fans
Do You Know What is Computer Fans ?
Inside your computer case, there are fans that will help keep the different components
of this machine cool. If they are not there, components of your computer will fail, may be damaged or even crash.
A computer fan can do one of three things. First, it can draw cooler air from the outside and into the computer case, it can pull in the air. Second, it can get rid of the warm air inside the computer, push out the air. Lastly, it can move the air across a heat sink to cool another computer part, such as the central processing unit (CPU).
There are many type of computer fan, lets get to know the types of computer fans.
1. Laptop Fan
There are different fan designs on every computer, and some may not have one at all. Most laptops are equipped with cooling fans, which are usually located at the bottom of the laptop. In fact, there are only a few models of thin and light laptop that do not have fans, the most famous being Apples MacBook M1 Air.
The purpose of this fan would be to blow the warm internal air away. But there are a lot of external fans available in the market right now, and they're also called refrigeration gear or laptop cooler. If your laptop is having difficulty keeping the temperature down while you perform hard work, these may provide a little more warmth.
2. Central Processing Unit (CPU) Fan
The CPU of your computer is the single most important chip in it. It does most of the processing work. Plus, the harder you push it, the warmer it gets. In order to make sure that your computer is efficient, it's important for the CPU to be cooled.
The CPU fan's only job is to keep the CPU cool. It's designed to gather heat from the CPU and then blow it out, in collaboration with a heatsink. In any case, if the CPU overheats or even breaks down under a lot of load, you're going to need it.
3. Power Supply Unit (PSU) Fan
The PC supply will convert the input of AC power to regulated DC power, which is then used by various parts of your computer in order to operate. But this conversion process always loses its efficiency, and power is lost in it as excess heat. The PSU casing can produce this heat, so if you don't remove it there could be problems.
4. Graphics Processing Unit (GPU)
Your computer’s graphics card, also known as a GPU. GPU will produce graphic heat while performing high energy tasks. In order to prevent overheating of these cards, GPU fans are used. There are two kinds of GPU fans available, opening air and blower.
The functionality of those two types is identical. They're taking cooler air out of the GPU case, using it as an engine for cooling its internals and then expelling it from there.
However, there's a specialized passage in the blower fan to exhaust warm air. The cool air is taken from the fan and used to warm up the GPU, then discharged using a path.
5. Case Fan
It is necessary to remove the hot air from the PC case after the CPU and GPU fans have removed the hot air, and that is where the case fans come into play. A case fan, as the name suggests, is attached to the computer case, and is responsible for taking the hot air out of the computer.
The case fans are the most important, mainly because if they don't have a case fan there will be air remaining in your PC and causing it to overheat. The overall cooling cycle of the computer is completed by case fans, all in all.
